Last Minute Valentine’s Date Ideas

Posted on 5 February 2020

So, we’re now officially in February, and all the restaurants are fully booked for Valentine’s Day. However, there are still a whole host of great dates that you can go out on without the need for advanced bookings.

Here at GiftPup, we love love, so we’ve compiled a list of our favourite Valentine’s Day date ideas that you can plan at the last minute – no restaurant bookings required.

Comedy Show

For a guaranteed night of fun and laughter, why not head out to a local comedy show? Check with local pubs, bars, and comedy clubs to see whats on and either book your tickets in advance (to guarantee a good seat and the best view), or turn up on the night and buy your tickets on the door (perfect super last minute planners). Who knows, you may even end up watching the next big thing!

Spa Day

Relax and unwind together with a soothing spa day, complete with couples massage and perhaps even a trip to the steam room together. Alternatively, save yourself some money and create an at-home spa with some store-bought face masks, a nice steam facial, and maybe up the romance factor by lighting some candles and giving each other a massage.

Picnic

Whilst it may technically still be winter, the crisp air can be perfect for planning a picnic - providing the forecast is in your favour. Pack up some nibbles and a bottle of bubbly and head out to your favourite picnic place with a blanket or two for a cosy picnic in peace. Alternatively, if you'd prefer to stay closer to home, why not set up in your garden for a more private picnic spot (where it's easier to seek shelter).

Bike Ride

For the more outdoorsy couple, why not get out and explore nature together by going on a gentle bike ride to a local beauty spot. Whilst this one is a bit weather-dependant, it's a great way to get the endorphins flowing, and you can stop at various points along the way for some couple selfies. Whilst February's weather isn't always the most reliable, the crisp weather can be perfect for a relaxed cycle.

Game Night

A game night is perfect for the low-key couple that likes to let loose their competitive side. Why not order in your favourite takeaway and dress down in your comfy clothes for some quality time alone together. Whether you're dusting off a game of monopoly, or powering up the PlayStation, a night in together could be the perfect way to take the pressure off. Maybe you could even implement some fun forfeits for the loser?

Escape Room

If a game night in is a bit too tame for you and your S.O, why not level up your game play by heading out to an escape room. You can either head out alone together to take on the challenge as a dynamic duo, or make it a double or triple date with a group of other couple friends and try to solve the puzzle even quicker. This is a fun and different way to celebrate Valentine's without needing a restaurant reservation.

Ice Skating

Ice skating isn't reserved just for Christmas markets, get wrapped up and hit the ice together for a fun-filled date. Whether you're skating pros or Bambi reincarnated, a trip to the rink is a great way to have fun together as a couple. Many of us are susceptible to the odd stumble and trip on the ice, but this is a great opportunity to make memories together.

Museum

If you and your S.O share a love of knowledge, why not pend Valentine's Day at the museum? Most museums are free, and tickets are always available on the day (so no advanced notice required). Some museums (such as the Natural History Museum) even put on special Valentine's Day events for lovers looking to learn. At the very least, you can enjoy the exhibits together and discuss your favourites.

Dinner and a Movie at Home

Dinner and a movie is a classic date for a reason; it involves good food, entertainment, and quality time together. There's only one thing better than heading out for the evening together, and that's staying in together instead. Swap the dresses and shirts for hoodies and joggers, and cook up a storm together in the kitchen before heading to the living room to Netflix and chill.
