Best Ways to Spend Mother's Day

Posted on 4 March 2020

Now that we're officially in March, Mothering Sunday is on the horizon, so why not skip the chocolate and flowers, and get Mum something truly special this year?

Here at GiftPup, we know that a celebration like Mother's Day isn't all about the presents and cards, and that's why we've created our list of five great ways to spend the day.

Our Fave 5 Ways to Celebrate Mum

Head To The Shops

Why not head to the shops and treat your mum to a gift she has hand-picked herself, combining the perfect present with some quality time together. This is particularly great for the mum that's normally difficult to buy for, or that has a specific taste. You could even make a day of it by taking her out for some lunch or for some coffee at the same time, or maybe even heading out to catch a film once you've shopped til you've dropped.

Get Pampered

Help your mum relax and take a break by booking her in for a relaxing spa day together, this is a great chance to bond, whilst also letting yourself receive a little bit of a treat too. There will likely be several deals out there for Mother's Day spa gifts, so have a shop around to find the perfect pamper day. A great low-cost alternative to this is creating a spa-experience at home for her, there is a wealth of at-home spa ideas online that you can use to treat your mum to the private spa experience she deserves.

Cook Up A Storm

Whether you're waking Mum up with a bountiful breakfast in bed, or are treating her to a delicious dinner, what better way to show Mum you love her than by tantalising her taste buds? It doesn't matter if you're practically a pro, or an almost adequate amateur, she's bound to appreciate the effort of a home-cooked meal. Alternatively, if you are completely clueless in the kitchen, you could always take Mum for a slap-up meal at her favourite restaurant.

Get Crafty

There are a wide range of excellent arts and crafts classes that would be great for the Mum that loves to make, from painting pottery, to sewing or even soap making. This is a great way to spend the day together, and have a forever memento of your time - which could also double as a special gift for her. You could also host a crafting afternoon at home, by grabbing some supplies and settling in for a few hours - this gives you more time together than a typical class, but with the same results.

But Most Importantly...

Most importantly, spend the day doing what your Mum loves; if she loves pottering around in the garden, grab a kneeling pad and help out, if she likes drinking cocktails, why not practice making her favourite and become her bartender for the evening, or if she's a fan of the theatre, try and find a local show to take her to. After all, the best way to spend a Mother's Day is to spend it together, treating her to all of her favourite things.
